Important Information

Gradual altitude gain helps, but donâ€™t get overconfident
Starting from Srinagar reduces altitude shock, but Leh is still above 11,000 ft. Take it easy once you reach.
Inner Line Permits are mandatory
Required for places like Pangong Lake and Nubra Valley. Usually arranged in advance.
Only postpaid SIMs work in Ladakh
Airtel, Jio, and BSNL postpaid connections function in Leh. Expect little to no network in remote regions.
Long road journeys are part of the experience
Routes like Zoji La Pass and Khardung La Pass can be rough and time-consuming.
Carry sufficient cash
ATMs are limited beyond Leh and often unreliable.
Weather changes quickly
Warm days, freezing nights. Layered clothing is essential.
Basic facilities in remote areas
Stays near Pangong and Nubra are simple due to extreme conditions.
Health precautions matter
Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol initially, and consult a doctor if you have altitude concerns.
Respect local culture & monasteries
Places like Thiksey Monastery are sacred. Dress modestly and behave respectfully.
Travel insurance is recommended
Because mountain roads and perfect plans rarely get along.
